Practice round for the Von Hagge at Walden
I meet my partner at Walden on Lake Conroe to play a practice round for our up coming event this past weekend. He was getting a lesson form the professional at Northgate CC and i was coming in from work in college station.
We meet at 3;00 and i had been on the range for a bit before he was able to arrive. While i was on the range i worked on one thing relaxation and allowing the club to swing and not gripping the club to tight. I then went to the putting green and worked on 8-10 footers with a practice tool and it really helped.
When we teed off i hit the ball well all day. The club entered the ground properly and the ball was falling slight left with a draw like i prefer. I shot 2 under on the front before we were stopped by lighting. While the delay and rain pursued my partner and i went into the club house and i was discussing putting with him. It didn’t seem he was striking the putts well and releasing the putter head to attain the proper roll on the ball. After watch in him roll a few and giving him a tip or two he started rolling the ball very well. We were able to go out and play a few more holes and the difference in his putting was incredible.
We were able to play about 14 holes and we were 1-2 under for the round which i thought was pretty good under the conditions.
I was looking forward to going out and playing in a good golf event and stroke play so that i could get better ready for the event in October the club championship.
