May 24th Conroe Noon Lions Club Tournament at the Villages Golf Club

I would like to say Thank you to my host Milton and Buckalew Chevorlet for sponsoring our team in the Conroe Noon Lions Club Tournament help at the Villages Golf club in Conroe.

We played in the afternoon group at 2pm, had lunch provided by Chick-filet. The course was in good shape and the accommodations were wonderful as always when i have been there to play.

Our team played well on the first 9 holes but we struggled coming home with making putts. Which in these type of events is what the difference is between winning and not placing in the tournament. We shot a 59 which is 13 under but it wasn’t good enough because 55 won first 56 won second and 57 won third. Those scores would have been easily attainable with how we hit the ball but on this day the putts just didn’t fall for us. You are not supposed to win every tournament because then you wouldn’t appreciate it when you do win.

I will say i truly enough the time playin with my team. Thank you guys for putting up with me. Our team consisted of Milton, Rick, Dennis and myself. We have all played together either at Walden or in various tournaments over the years.

I had just received a shaft in the mail the night before for my driver to spin the attachment 2 degrees for less loft. I tried it on the range and hit it decent and decided to put it into action yesterday. The first hole we were able to have a 275 yard drive to the hole with a 240 yard carry over water. Nothing like putting it to the test right out of the gate. I hit it well and was able to drive it into the back bunker over the green. I was happy with the new trajectory and length of the driver since I was able to keep up with RIck who is usually 20 yards ahead of me i length. I figured i was driving the ball 265-275 most of the day but mor importantly i was in the fairway and in position to hit good irons shots into the green. I was able to hit it high and in a more boring trajectory than my other driver so i believe i will send the other shaft back and have it turned the same way.

Once again i would like to say thank you to Milton for the invitation to play in the Lions club tournament. It is always fun to play golf and more importantly to contribute to charity and enjoy your playing partners.
