May 20th Range session

I got up had coffee with my wonderful wife and sat and thought through the process of striking the ball. I knew we had limited time today so i went out early and hit balls o the range about 8:30.

I started by making sure mu posture was good and the club was set properly on the ground so that when i made a good swing i should hit the ball squarely.

What i discovered was that i was not releasing the club through the impact zone and what i would call casting or flicking the club through impact. So from my own knowledge of the swing i knew i had to be keeping my weight in my right side through impact causing this motion. This mean I needed to be more balanced during my swing and through impact to attain the contact result i wanted.

A drill that i have used for beginners and myself through out the years is addressing the ball with my feet together. I started this session doing just this and started hitting the ball in the middle of the face. So i f i can stand there and hit the ball not moving my body much and just running then this must be the cause of my misfits. I expanded the swing with another drill of the head over under the right armpit. I continued to hit the ball in the center of the club face during this drill as well. I was getting hope for a recovery. I removed the head cover and immediately started hitting it on the toe again. I placed a towel under both arms pits and made 20 -30 half swings with a wedge and hit the ball perfect. Once again i placed the head cover under my right arm pit and made swings. During this time i made it all the way to my 7 iron making full swings and hitting the ball square in the middle of the Face. During this Time i found that i was releasing the club knuckles down and through the ball. A wonderful feeling and one i had discovered i was not doing correctly until now.

I continued to swing the club hitting ball after ball on the center. I removed the head cover and hit the first one on the toe. I worked my way to the ball and decided to point my right elbow at my hip and lower it slightly than my left arm, this accomplished the movement i was looking for and i hit the ball in the center, I continued to work my way through the bag all the way to my driver and what a great range session. I am very encouraged to go out to morrow and hit balls to see if it works again.
