In search of the perfect club
I want to share with you what i have gone through over the last year in search of the perfect club.
I am the type that does extensive research on an item before i buy it. So usually when i walk into the store where i am going an know more than the salesman. I am getting off topic.
The best club that i recommend! The one that looks best to you when you set it down. Or the one that feels best to you when you make contact with the ball. However with the new technology you can make them super clubs with tweaking the shaft a bit. From light weight to graphite. To tip weak to tip strong to affect the loft of the ball when it leaves the club. Then there is spin rate and ball speed that can be affected by the shaft and yes even the club. Most of these are boasted by companies selling drivers but i will tell you they are just as important for your irons.
If you are a low ball hitter you can adjust this by the positioning of the weight in the iron head and then the shaft to allow you to get the maximum carry for your irons so when they hit the green they will be a descending angle as apposed to a line drive per-say.
I have found the club head that i like and have experimented with several shafts from project x flighted 5.5, KBS c-taper lites in stiff. Both have completely different feel. The project x shafts have more of a dead feel and low launch, were as the KBS shafts are more lively and a slightly higher launch. So you see there are many variables in selecting a club for yourself.
My recommendation for the best club for you.
1. Try a demo day at your club, if you don’t belong to a club then try to get an appointment at a club near you.
2. Go to a master club fitter who would have all the club types and shafts combinations for you to try at the store however most are indoors and hitting into a screen which myself i don’t prefer but you can understand why they would have it that way because it controls the environment for their testing purposes. So go to a master fitter and they can help you choose the best combination for you. It is well worth the money. Most charge for 100-350 dollars for a fitting and it also depends on if your getting fitted for an entire bag or just a section of your bag. Most will do woods, irons, wedges, and putter.
So the moral of the story, select a club that looks good to you first try it on the range with a demo day if you can if you still like i then go get a fitting with a master club fitter. If you follow this process i assure you that you will have many enjoyable rounds of golf with the clubs you select.
